2 Click Flare Scratch (Orbit)

This is my personal favourite scratch technique and it's crucial you have it 100% down in exactly the way I recommend. This is because the cross fader movement and the timing associated with it are exactly the same for a wide variety of other techniques:

  • OF Flare
  • Reverse OG Flare
  • Boomerang
  • Autobahn

This is another DJ Flare invention and is the same concept as the 1 Click Flare. The only difference being that, instead of having one ‘click’ (closing of the fader), you have two ‘clicks’. This is managed by using a stab so the cross fader hand follows the following steps:

  1. Close the fader
  2. Tap the fader
  3. Open the fader

The timing used for this technique is very specific but there are variations and I go through them in this episode.

LEARNING ON STATIC PLATTERS (DJ CONTROLLER OR CDJS)?

Below is a video outlining how to perform this technique on static platters typically found on DJ controllers or CDJs. Watch this video for the technique and then return to the main lesson for variations, different timings, tonalities and tempo training.
